- Exchange & Gift
This program has been growing between the Library of Congress and government and non-government institutions and libraries in Vietnam, especially since the end of the 2nd Indochina war. The program collects and distributes scholarly information from print and non-print media sources on society, culture, politics, law, literature and economy to serve the researchers. This program has promoted good will between libraries and institutions in the two countries. Annually, Jakarta receives hundreds of publications by exchange for LC only and gifts for distribution to LC and our CAPSEA participants. These are used to support the research on Southeast Asia by the US Congress and major intellectual institutions.
- Purchase Program
LC-Jakarta has an active program to identify and acquire materials on the spot and through regular field trips to Vietnam to purchase books, periodicals, maps, audio visuals and IT data which are not available through the exchange or gift programs. This program is now open to CAPSEA members by offering a list of recent acquisitions each month and list of selected serial titles once a year.
